plate material is thicker with lower speed chain, so any damage when dis/connecting a quick link still leaves enough material to hold securely.
Have I re-used the "many speed" ones? Yes, it was fine. Would I recommend it? Only with a warning that it's at one's own risk.

both Reusable
and Non-Reusable variants. Read the product descriptions for the answer.
