Ping LiFePO4 batteries, for me, lasted on average 14 months with heavy use.

Depending on where in the world you are located. You may want to switch to using 18650 lithium-ion battery packs. For hilly areas, I would recommend a high amp controller for lots of torque. You should try to stay at 1C or below output which would also require you to have a high Ah battery pack ($$$). The further the distance you will be traveling in these hilly conditions the bigger the Ah battery should be.

Look at ebikes.ca for all the parts you may need for a good setup. Stick with reputable vendors for 18650 battery packs.
