fire Here is my Trek 970 Mountain Bike, all original except smooth tyres for road use and Brooks B17 Saddle and Bar Grips. The Shimano Rapid Fire changers still work well and I located another set NOS in original box to replace them when they eventually give out. Paintwork is almost unscathed. I ride this bike a lot, one of my favourite rides. Repacked hubs recently and found no signs of wear. The Deore DX & XT components on this bike are such high quality.
The purple 970 is a 1992 model. The 1991 970 was black with white splash and the 1991 950 was purple.
The purple 1992 970 is one of the bikes in the color I am looking for (takes patience when you ride a 22"). My 1992 950 is the same frame with LX components (XT shifters), but black. They are great bikes.
