The purple 1992 970 is one of the bikes in the color I am looking for (takes patience when you ride a 22"). My 1992 950 is the same frame with LX components (XT shifters), but black. They are great bikes.
Hi: Yes they are great bikes and you are correct that my bike is a 1992 model but in fact I bought it in late 1991 and the same happened with my Trek 6500 which I bought as next years model at the time. Trek it seems did this a lot. September or October they would start producing next years bikes in the new colour schemes and shipping them out to dealers, just like car manufacturers do.I suppose it encourages purchasers who otherwise would wait till following year, though in my case I bought it because it was in the shop and I liked the look of it and it rode well. It was not a cheap bike, I think I paid around £800UK, can't remember exact amount.
