A few years ago they redecked the Jacques Cartier br crossing the St Lawrence from Montreal. They increased the width of the sidewalk on one side from about 4' to about 8'. This removed significant hazards to bikes crossing in opposite directions, and to bikes passing pedestrians. However they introduced new hazards - chicanes and speed bumps.
