Post a picture and we can guess the year, the Shimano parts will have date codes on them as well. For date codes on parts, or casting dates on forks etc sometimes you have to account for the time it took to assemble and ship the bike. So it can be a model year later than marked, although any date in the serial number would probably be correct.
