Mmmmm....I think more a matter of business difficulties and a change in ownership. Looks to me like they are trying to be more like Bianchi with a full line of bikes really aimed at Europe, while still maintaining a steel frame shop in Bergamo. Based on the e-mail above, they do not stock ready made steel SC frames any longer.

Not the first time the name has changed hands. Pelizolli, who built the original San Cristobal, sold it off in the late 70's and continued to build bikes under contract for various manufacturers (as well as ones under his own name).
