I don't have the wireless unit on my Di2 setup and I likely won't get it since the whole thing is setup and my mechanic made it sound like a big chore to go back and set it all up - especially since the battery is in the seatpost. But the ability to connect to the system from my phone does seem enticing.
if you were to mount it in your seat tube, it’s literally unplugging the wire from the battery and putting this unit inline. Nothing to it.

I have not noticed any drain on my end. I received my Di2 bike in November and I have yet to charge it. It’s sitting at 50% right now. Since November I have put in 1087 miles (not all on my Di2 bike)...so I can’t say for sure how many miles are actually on it.
