If i had to guess my first CrMO famed bike was reynolds 531. (Technically MnMo steel). this was back in the mid-seventies. I cannot for the life of me figure out how i knew about 531 in the pre-internet age at 15, but there you go. it was one of those special Free Spirits. If i had to guess, with my moms employee discount, it must have been at least $150-175 (?). all on a 50 home paper route salary! next bike was a viscount and upwards from there. I loved the viscount so much that when it was stolen, i replaced it straight up with another. seem to remember i had that for the first year of college because i guy i met at the bike shop in that town, would tease me that it was a Varsity even though it was lighter than his Paramount!
