How does that mount on there?
The one I have doesn't clamp on to the stem very well- or at least tightly enough that I'd feel comfortable with it.

It doesn't clamp on the stem; it and the very thin nut that accompanies it replaces the old headset top-nut and binds on with that pinch-bolt rather than screwing on like a headset bolt would.
