Cycle to Fort Collins. Do the $450 / 3 day bike tour with the Ramble folks.
Ride back to Denver from Steamboat. Make a week and a half of it. Probably I'll do it next year.
This year I think I'm heading east for the GAP - C&O. I can meet my wife in DC to tour museums after I ride the trails. It'll be much less AMTRAK travel time (5 hours from Toledo to Pitts + 15 hour return from Wash to Toledo). It'll also be a week and a half, but I'll get time with my sweetie! (Or we could go the opposite way, of course....)
cheers.
I rode the GAP/CO from Pittsburgh to DC in 2015 Here are a couple links to the blog posts:
Simply Cycle: Early Spring on the GAP/CO trails: Part 1 The GAP
Simply Cycle: Part 2 the C&O trail
Amtrak now has a roll on compartment for bikes on that train, I used the box and checked baggage service which is just as convenient.
