I have tried "road" shoes and "road" pedals and for my purposes found them inconvenient - I like to be able to walk without doing a balancing act and without damaging my cleats. That being said, I have matched light weight Mg/Ti spd single sided road pedals and Sidi Dominator 5 MTB shoes. The result is a very stable platform, great performance and the convenience I'm looking for.
