Thanks, I tried to add more paragraphs. I indeed plan to use the 13-29, I wrote that. I think it will do, since a local cycling coach insist that even a 34x26 is enough for Audax. But I have seen quite fast, muscular guys with a very high end S-works bike push it, because 34x29 was not enough for a short, 18% climb. I already have 2 front and 2 rear derailleurs, a spare Centaur 115.5 BB, so I`d like to use them - converting to a triple requires whole new parts.
I have another road/city bike with large tyres and a rear rack, so I put a 24/34/42 triple on it. I`d like to keep the CX bike lightweight and fast, since I only ride in on asphalt in the dry. I will also invest in a lighter wheelset. Believe me, there is no room for a triple. Even with a 115,5 BB the inner 34T ring of the compact barely clears the frame. It is an old frameset from 2007.
I have tried Powershift and I quite dislike it. I read dozens of review pages over a few months and there are complaints about longevity. Seeing that Campagnolo changes the tech every few years or so is not convincing. I understand that they must make some money, but compatibility issues made many people ditch the Italian brand. There are so many different versions and ratios that put me off 11 speed, not to mention that the 10 speed parts are significantly cheaper.
I found Veloce QS 10s NOS shifters, but I am not sure if they are Ultrashift and would they work with my Chorus parts... For 140 Euros shipped, I think the price is fair. I also found 10s NOS Daytona shifters from 2001, but they are 265 EUR shipped. If they are rebuildable, this might do, as the price for upgrading my 9s Chorus to 10s would be 120 EUR in the Campagnolo UK service centre (I would not do it myself, it is too risky).
