Well, I would avoid Xenon, as I have read dozens of review claiming identical problems, and I also know an avid randonneur - his Xenon fell apart. But thanks for the info, it is always good to know - much appreciated! On second thought...I can find NOS Athena silver shifters, and NOS Athena black, long cage RD for roughly the same price as Potenza. I do not know what to do...I have read too many negative reviews for Potenza - long throw, uncomfortable hoods, and even warranty issues. Whatever I buy for spare, I would use it in at least 3-4 years, when the warranty would have expired anyway. Graeme from Velotech UK says there is no guarantee that the Athena will clear the 32T - it depends on chainstays, hanger, etc. Judging by the photo, the Athena FD looks similar to the old Chorus CT FD for 10 speed (unlike the Potenza one, which has a totally new design), and I hope I could use my Chorus FDs, although I got no idea if Athena offers micro-trimming for the FD.
