Well currently, and for the rest of the summer, I'm living in an area where the only thefts I have EVER heard of are of unlocked bikes.

I can't think of one time when I heard the bike was locked and stolen.

That being said, I'm sure there have to be different grades of chain available at the store. I'll just have to take a trip down there and see what they have. Then I'll ask my buddy who is a metallurgist research scientist what chain is best.

Would it be better to buy a bike lock with $1000 of insurance or just put the bike on your renters insurance? Has anyone ever tried to collect from either of these places?
