You all really believe that even if I'm not in a theft prone area I still need to buy an $80 lock and chain?

Why do you advocate this particular brand so much? There must be a better/easier/cheaper/lighter way! (The engineer in me is speaking)

Are the U locks any good that can be had for ~$30?

Sorry, this is all new to me. Back in the day I had a $10 cable lock that never failed me. I never even thought twice about it.

$80 just seems to be a bit much.

I guess they say ignorance is bliss. Maybe not after my bike gets stolen!
