This is true! However, in Live Tracking, it’s not the BTLE connection that drains the phone’s power but the constant cellular connection streaming data to the host website. It’s why I don’t use the Bolt’s companion app and use my old cycling app instead. It’s the only app running and it only sends the data and email link at a certain time/distance that I determine. So, an eight hour ride would only send data nine times vs constant data streaming, if it was set to send every hour. Mine is set for every 20 miles. On a fully charged battery, the phone’s GPS has yet to drain the battery over an eight hour ride while sending tracking info to my wife. I use the tracking on charity rides of 60 miles or more and determine when to send the data depending on the rides location and distance.
