Yes, its the OPs prerogative; it just seems lile a lot of expense for negligible benefit and it comes with extra issues. The only way this project makes sense us if the OP can't physically pedal 2 miles at a time. And if they're in that condition, I hope they don't have to carry this bike up any stairs.

Just to answer a question: I don't know if your particular battery and motor will connect directly together, but even if they don't, there should(?) just be two wires, you can cut, strip and connect them together yourself. I had to do it to the parts that I bought, but I do have a very different setup.
