Haha short answer is NOPE!
I have a deore long cage and a 600 road DR in a bucket somewhere collecting dust.
My commute (langster) is pretty darn flat so it's just a matter of weight and reliability vs having all those gears.
The red bike is mostly for riding with my kids so performance is not a big deal when tooling around the neighborhood, more about fun.
Thinking of building like a 1x10 bike with touring geometry for longer rides but that's a ways out.
