How do I know?
Coming back from a ride to the beach nearing home, the lucky break, I noticed if I dropped revs things got a little iffy in the combustion department, as in missing.
Limping the last miles, I made it home. The next morning checked fuel, OK, then battery and learned, the new battery was almost dead. This bike was made to run its lights at night, not all the time.
Sigh, "wish I'd kept it"...repeat this phrase a couple dozen times and you arrive at wisdom.
It's rather funny how that works. These early motorcycles would not charge the battery if the headlights were on! Luckily there are simple fixes to this now-a-days with the installation of a cheap rectifier.
I have not done the mod to mine yet but plan on doing it soon.
