If that's a Hupel Rider the post is very soft metal. My Fuji Pro came with one. Racing down from Smuggler's Notch, I hit a frost heave going 50+ and got tossed a couple of feet into the air by my derriere. Bike came down seemingly fine. Finished the race, then discovered the post was significant'y bent back. (The happy ending - I won a Zeus post.)

Edit: that soft metal might well account for some of the scarring on the OP's post.
