from what I understand you can interchange the cassette between sram and shimano but you have to have a sram derailleur with a sram shifter and shimano shifter with shimano derailleur because of how much cable is pulled in action of the gearing. you can get on ebay and find the shimano m6000 which would give you 10 speed in the rear with derailluer and shifer for around 100 bucks. you would just need a 10 speed cassette.
