As a teenager I was introduced to camping & backpacking by a neighborhood friend. I enjoyed the escape & adventure and still do 50 years later.

Of course I've had apprehensions & mental fears at various points when trying some new adventure experience. I do like to learn from others who HAVE DONE the adventurous activity, and avoid negativity from those who haven't. If you're interested in adventure, there probably is some risk, and you have to be willing to take it. I'm not into nor recommending reckless behavior, but rational-risk-taking is a good thing IMO.
