I know little about the BMX models but based on the ATB and road models the brand name switched from Diamond Back (i.e. two words) to Diamondback (i.e. one word) for the 1996 model year. The serial number suggests it was manufactured in July of a year ending in a 7, so a 1997-1998 model makes sense.
