My question is.........unless it was a draft-legal tri, why would they be on the tri bike on a group ride?

I post over on Slowtwitch and once asked this. The concept of a group tri ride still makes no sense to me, if tri bikes are used. The intervals I do for TT at least are not conducive whatsoever to group riding. And my TT bike is the last thing I'd ever want to take on a group ride. I've done social TT rides, you go off every 30 seconds and meet back for a beer and **** talking afterwards.
