Pesticides and chemicals get concentrated in animals. Drugs too.
I actually do eat fish, so I am not really a vegetarian. But this is a major reason to avoid eating meat. I definitely think it is worthwhile to avoid ingesting pesticides, but eating animals fed on pesticide-laden feed concentrates it far worse than what is on the plants themselves. Also, many "organic" variants produce their own array of pesticides and other noxious chemicals. You really can't win.
