If you took out the insole, or found a thinner one to replace the old one with, the shoes would likely fit. I found a nice set of brand new Nashbar shoes at a thrift store that were slightly too small. Took out the insole and they fit perfectly now.
Nice thought, but for me, most 49s require a thin or no sock to fit. My feet are physically longer than the footbed in most 47s. A little extra volume will not make them acceptable.
