I tried on a pair of Specialized with 2 straps and ratchet but after trying on the Sidi's and feeling how comfortable they were I was hooked and my toes were happy.

I got a pair of 2005 Sidi Rocket Mesh and a pair of 2005 Sidi Dominator 5 Lorica MTB shoes. They were both on clearance sales. Trying to decide which ones I like without actually trying them. Their prices were different enough for me to wonder what's so great about the Dominator over the Rocket.

I had some bad experience with the ratchet strap on my Shimano's but I'm willing to give the Sidi Dominator a chance although on MTBReview.com people have complained about the Sidi's ratchet system wearing out quickly. No one's reviewed these on RoadBikeReview.com

These 2 pairs of shoes overall look identical except:

-The Rocket Mesh has cool silver mesh whereas the Dominator Lorica has no meshy areas. Lorica is supposed to be breathable according to Sidi's website. Sure.

-The Dominator has a perforated footbed/insole and it's a tiny bit more substantial.

Their Road brethren look identical except for the MTB have the treads on the bottom.
