The lighting kit second from the upper left is the very one I installed on my Winchester 10-speed when I was 13. Apart from raising and lowering the saddle on my Sting Ray, it was my very first foray into bike wrenching, and it worked great from the very start. An auspicious beginning for a completely inexperienced bike mechanic. I tried to get my dad to help me install it, but he just handed me the toolkit and said "Looks pretty straightforward; see if you can do it yourself." One of the many favors of omission he did for me while I was growing up. (I had six siblings, and dad had hobbies and pursuits of his own.)

Anyway, that kit lasted through at least nine years of night riding, on three different bikes; all the way up to the end of my college career.
