Out of curiosity, what pressure do your run your hookworm at on your KH29?
Ended up ordering some slightly larger tubes which were waiting for me when I got home from work. Wrestled the tire on with some frustration but the last part popped in about when I was wondering if I needed more than plastic levers. Made sure to put the wheel back in the frame the right way around so the pedals don't unscrew, and looking forward to what is supposed to be a single nice warm day tomorrow.
Fortunately the large BMX brake caliper fits around it with enough clearance for comfort. I may ultimately try to find some taller brake pads (or shims between the arms and pads, are those a thing?)
but it's fine as is for a tire of this size, and the clearance when open shows it could handle a larger one if the pads were taller or the rim wider. Fortunately the brake gets only light use so the pads wear very slowly.
Actually it looks like I do need a shim or taller pads. I can ride it without taking the caliper off (didn't even engage the brake once last ride on the level river path), but now after increasing the tire pressure I'm uncomfortable with the clearance when engaged
So far the one thing that doesn't work is that the cap thread portion of the new tube's presta stem is just a bit shorter, which means my adapters don't go on far enough for a pressure gauge to push the valve core. But I have lots of brass adapters, so I suspect shortening for that use will be simple and effective.
