Today's update: I did the firmware upgrade last night. That worked fine. I fired it up this morning for my commute, and it shut itself off before the 15 minute mark.
Thankfully, I remembered to attach my other rear light so I wasn't invisible on the road.
Did you get in touch with the Cycliq person how reached out to you above? Get a different unit.
