Got ever so slightly thicker brake pads of the sheet metal encased variety of the LBS thinking I could take them apart and substitute longer studs. But decided with a washer between them and the caliper there was enough clearance and still enough thread engagement on the nut outside to give it a try for a ride.
Have mixed feelings about the tire; greater rotating mass isn't bothering me, but round profile is squirrelly at low speed and seems to somewhat stay that way at high, unlike the Marathan that seemed to pick up some stability as it went faster. File that under "only having one wheel problems". The larger hookworm probably does absorb the trail trail's notorious bumps a little better, but not sure it was an overall improvement.
At least the experiment didn't cost that much and I got back out to my rail trail earlier than April this year... now have some colder weather to re-think things.
