...and I've been pushing for using the word "cyclist" - go figure!

For a long time now, I've been frustrated by folks saying that they are going "biking", instead of "cycling" - and it is mainly because, inevitably, they will then call me a "biker". I then ask him or her what they would call a person who rides a loud Harley motorcycle (not to mention possibly be wearing a leather jacket and having tattoos, but I'll leave that out of the equation so I don't sound like I'm stereotyping - which I TOTALLY mean to be doing, anyway). The person will answer something like, "Biker - oh, I get it!"

I'm a cyclist, not a biker - and I'm definitely not going to bother with "a person who rides a bicycle". Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, and I've always assumed saying anything but "bicyclist" is another example of humans (particularly us Americans) being lazy with language, anyway!
