Speaking of which, why don't people run bar ends anymore? Weight issues? I like being able to shift hand position, especially when climbing.
Up until a last week I was using bar ends (on a flat bar) wrapped in road tape, which I highly reccomend. I'm a strong climber to begin with, but when I stood up on those things I swear I could go straight up a telephone pole. Now I am starting to believe that the wide riser bar is technologically superior, giving some of the same advantages of bar ends with only one hand position. Of course there's nothing stopping you from running bar ends on a riser, except for it looking dorky. One more thing is that when using gripshift you end up with a miniscule grip. My grips where about 2 inches each.

Also, some guys swear off bar ends after one "snag incident", in which they hit the ground at the speed of pain.
