Funny, I was just talking on the phone today with a guy who does carbon repair work out of Orange County. Here is what he said: The difference between 500 OCLV and 700 OCLV is about 100 grams. That's it. You pay extra for marketing.

Don't get me wrong, Trek carbon frames are great, but it is strictly a weight thing, and 100 grams is about the weight of a small banana. Have a good pee before you ride. There is your 100 grams.
