The ‘best before’ dates on most drugs are generally set by the marketing dept and not scientifically determined. It’s too expensive to test pharmaceuticals so you can be fairly certain no one is testing standard food products. Gels are sealed and mostly sugar so should last for years. Squirt one out on a plate and compare it with a new one if you’re concerned.
