The horizontal dropouts on my '74 Internat'l have been a key design feature in it's versatility, keeping it in service for decades.
It's been fitted out OEM w/ tubulars, converted to/from FG for winter base miles and now sports an AW/Hybrid drive-train for town bike duty.
Works for me.
