Maybe it's time to do a 650b conversion . . .
We were very comfortable on 650x38 this fall. I loved 34mm tubulars a few years ago.

Go as low as you can for gearing. I’ve done 42x26 before, but the hills were a killer. My wife gets by fine on 30x28 using a triplizer from Red Clover for her Stronglight 93 crank. Check her ‘73 Gitane in my sig.
