I don't know about the "mostly" part, but maybe "some" part. What I do know is that there is a distinct reduction in impact harshness when using a carbon golf shaft compared to a similar stiffness steel shaft. Guys with hand/elbow/shoulder pain issues almost to a man report some relief when switching from steel shafts to graphite.
