The traffic has been like that for ... oh, probably 25 years. That's about when I noticed it starting to get bad. You've just got to keep your eyes and ears open all the time. However, in all the time I've been cycling through there, I've never been asked if it was legal!
Nevertheless, it would probably be nice to have some bicycle signs around seeing as thousands of cyclists ride through there every year.
And as for campsites, they are on the map, so you can judge how far you want to go. And if you happen to end up between campsites and darkness is coming on ... a little hint ... call the park rangers.
