Finally finished working on this 1980 Zebrakenko Storm. Many thanks to squirtdad for recommending the Velo Orange Postino bars in lieu of flat bars. Searching info about the bars led me to this
VO blog entry. I copied the use of the shifter mounts with the Postino bars. The shifter mounts are pretty cool, allowing the use of down tube shifters on the handlebars. The bike was built for city use - for someone who did not want drop bars. Went with a VO quill stem, VO hammered fenders, VO metallic braid cable housing, and a Tortec Velocity rear rack. The steel wheels were too far gone, so replaced them with alloy wheels. The saddle is original - the Zebra logo faintly visible after 40 years. Chrome C/O Blue Magic.
Also thanks to due route for passing along a down tube cable stop, and to
Tread Bike Shop for help with the axles on the new wheels and cabling the bike. The VO stuff isn't cheap, but their customer service is great. I had several subsequent questions about the parts I ordered - Scott from VO was very responsive.
