I realize that I am a little late to this party but I just wanted to chime in my experience.

I commute regularly on a gravel bike. The drop bars are a little wider than traditional road bike bars and also have a slight (I think 8 degree) flair to the drops. I cannot give you actual specs because they are HED branded OEM bars (HED Eroica) and I'm not near the bike at the moment. I find these bars to be a very good compromise.
