You can use 7 speed Downtube or brifters. Source some used 7 speed shimano Brifters or some new ones like @

Thank you Tex! Was suspecting that. Will try to find a 7 speed downtube to go with in the future. In meantime, probably will have it set to use only the six big cogs 16 to 34.
Anyways, have to get a replacement spoke for the wheel before anything.
