I had the 2100 variant of this bike and would not consider the frame as "stiff". More of an all day cruiser for my 230 pound butt. 58cm. Nice flexy comfort.
My Trek 2100 was 55cm square, and I thought it was kinda flexy under me, too, especially for its size. (200 lb rider used to much larger frames. )
