There's no reason those rims shouldn't work. Tubes blow when you pinch them between the rim and tire. When installing, you need to put a few psi in the tube and work your way around the tire and push it away from the rim to make sure the tube isn't trapped between the tire and rim. Then put in a little more air and push the tire up and down where necessary to make sure it's seating evenly before putting the rest of the air in.
