Exactly. I'm in it for the open air and the elusive feeling of freedom. My mindset is not too different from when I got my first single speed with a coaster brake in 1974. Next you guys will be telling me you don't have a big orange flag taped your rear fender and there aren't any playing cards in your spokes.

C'mon now, those rear hubs are just as noisy and those fancy jerseys are just as bright! ;o)

Besides, mountain biking can be just like spin class - but with a bit of risk involved.
