i broke the chain on a Peugeot UO10 to replace a failed FD and to clean the RD. I bought a missing link to reconnect it. The link measures that it will fit the chain width. The chain plates are too large and I can’t get links close enough together to get the missing link started. The links seem plenty beefy and I’m tempted to sand each link a little to get the links close enough together to get the missing link started.

im kinda stuck until I figure this out. This long chainstay frame is a short term experiment for me and I’ll likely eventually spring for stuff to get lower gears or another long chainstay frame. My disclaimer is I’m new at wrenching on bikes and I got this bike mostly to get to wrench on it.

Any advice on reconnecting the chain? I lost one of the pins I pushed out.
