I guess — correct me if I’m wrong — this wouldn’t matter for my purposes. I run my cables up from the hub to the fork, then under the fender forwards to a rack-mounted light, then back to the fork crown. From the fork crown to the bottom bracket I have to somehow attach the wire to the downtube (aesthetics forbids zip ties, so I normally pin the wire under the downtube shifter clamp, but sometimes it sags...). Once it’s at the bottom bracket, it goes inside the rear fender onto which I bolt my tail-lights. So, for me, as long as there is a hole under the head tube lug and one somewhere around the bottom bracket, it improves the looks of the whole thing a lot. Obviously the fork is still the sore spot...
