For commuting/city riding, I really like VP pedals. For road riding, I'm an SPD guy and prefer Shimano PD-A600 (though I also have a bunch of PD-A520s, the less-expensive, somewhat heaver version of the A600). For a bit of both (platform on one side, SPD on the other), I've always gone with Shimano PD-A530.
