Car Alternative is not my experience

I don’t live or even visit cool cosmopolitan cities. I was in Portland Oregon (painfully uncool place to ride IMHO) and saw a few e bikes just being ridden around by young adults obviously not on their way to work (I think). I have seen two e bikes on group rides with traditional bikes, all participants were over 50 years old. In Paradise and Redding California I have seen a dozen or so on the MUP , ridden by folks who were not interested in pedaling and breaking a sweat (I think). I don’t mountain bike much and have never seen one in the dirt. I guess if you don’t ride at commute hours and routes you won’t see commuters? I would love to see e bikes make an impact in any significant way commute wise. Most drivers could care less and will never get out of their cars.
